Materials & Finishes

What are the differences between PETG, ASA CF and Polycarbonate?
We select the polymer best suited to the intended use of the object:
  • PETG (Durable Standard): Recyclable, glossy, and impact-resistant. Ideal for our watertight vases and colored pots (12 colors).
  • ASA CF (Premium Carbon): A high-end material enriched with carbon fibers. It offers a deep matte black finish, a unique velvety texture, and total UV resistance (never fades).
  • Polycarbonate (Translucency): Used for its extreme resistance and its plays of light ("smoky" or "icy"), especially on our pendant lights and some designer vases.
Why do you use PLA for some collections?
PLA (bio-based, made from corn starch) allows for extreme precision and a matte finish. We reserve it for objects that are not exposed to water or high temperatures, such as the LEAH lamp collection or the Sneaker Planters .

Vases, Pots & Sealing

Are your 3D printed vases 100% waterproof?
Yes. That's our expertise. All our watertight containers (made of PETG, polycarbonate, or ASA) undergo an internal mineral vitrification treatment (with sodium silicate). This invisible barrier guarantees that no drop will penetrate the wall, even after years of use.
Can I put real plants in the pots and Sneaker Planters?
It depends on the model:
  • Pots & Saucers (PETG): YES. They are designed for soil and water, and have drainage holes with their dedicated saucer.
  • Sneaker Planter Collection: NO. These decorative models are specifically calibrated to accommodate artificial plant pots (like IKEA Fejka 6cm) or succulents requiring very little water.
How do I maintain my dishwasher?
Do not put in a dishwasher. Heat and harsh detergents can damage the waterproofing treatment or deform the bioplastic. Hand washing in warm, soapy water is all that's needed to restore their shine.

Lighting: Safety & Installation

Does the lamp come with the electrical system?
We offer two approaches depending on the collection:
  1. LEAH Collection: YES. "Turnkey" solution. Lamp supplied with textile cable, switch and plug, all CE certified .
  2. Modern Machine Collection & Pendant Lights: NO. These models are sold as sculptural lampshades. This gives you complete freedom to choose the color of your cable and ceiling rose to match your interior.
Which light bulb is mandatory?
An LED bulb (E27 base) is required.
3D printing materials (especially PLA) are sensitive to heat. LEDs do not heat up, consume little energy, and guarantee the safety and longevity of your Decofab3D light fixture.

Designed & Made in France

Where do your designs come from?
We are publishers. We collaborate with renowned international designers (Modern Machine, 3D Mieks, FORMAstudios...) whose commercial licenses we hold. We transform their digital files into durable physical objects in our workshop.
What are the manufacturing lead times?
Decofab3D promotes responsible manufacturing: we produce on demand to avoid waste. Your order is generally printed, processed, and shipped within 2 to 4 days from our workshop.
